Striped Montane Body Front

Montane – Spalted Tamarind/Katalox

This was a new venture in top wood design. The striped top was created with strips of Katalox (A.K.A. Mexican Royal Ebony) and Spalted Tamarind wood. It has a natural look, finished in tung oil finish with no grain fill.

The Katalox extends to the fretboard with a hint of a deep purple hue. I used an asymmetrical neck shape, which is comfortable and smooth and makes it easy to shred.

This guitar is finished off with custom wooden truss rod cover and control cavity cover (held by magnets).
